Nelson’s Column [Nelsons Column] BrE NAmE
a tall column in the middle of ↑Trafalgar Square, London, which was built in memory of Lord Nelson between 1839 and 1843. It has a statue of Nelson on top, and four ↑bronze lions round its base. It is one of London’s most famous tourist sights.
