(web)   (hypertext reference) The attribute of an HTML "a" (anchor or link) tag, whose value gives the URL of the web page or other resource that the link points to. For example,

 <a href="#http://foldoc.org/">FOLDOC href definition</a> 

would display an anchor pointing to this dictionary.
