Derry
Derry [Derry] BrE NAmE
the second largest city in Northern Ireland. In 1611 the ↑Roman Catholic city of Derry, a port on the north coast, was settled by large numbers of ↑Protestants from England who gave it the new name of ↑Londonderry. This was the city’s name until 1984 when it was officially changed back to Derry.
