Harold II [Harold II] BrE NAmE
(c. 1019–66) the last ↑Anglo-Saxon king of England. His army was defeated in 1066 at the Battle of ↑Hastings on the south coast of England by the ↑Norman army of ↑William the Conqueror. Harold died in the battle and William became King of England.
