Maryland [Maryland] BrE NAmE
an eastern state of the US on the Atlantic Ocean. It is also known as the Old Line State and the Free State. The largest city is ↑Baltimore, and the capital city is ↑Annapolis. Maryland was one of the original 13 states and gave some of its land to create Washington, DC. Tourists visit the ↑Harpers Ferry National Historical Park and the Goddard Space Flight Center. Among the state’s products are electronic equipment, wood and fish.
