Legal aid is only available to people whose income is below a certain level, and may not pay for all the expenses involved in a legal action. In Britain it is the responsibility of the Legal Services Commission set up by the government. In the US, the Legal Services Corporation, an organization that was set up by ↑Congress in 1974, gives financial support to local Legal Aid Society offices.
